Substitution for Dante Project.
This story relates to my theme because I struggled a lot during this story. Up until the very end I didn't understand the meaning of the story. Once the end of the story came I finally understood it because I could look back at the entire story, and keep reading it over and over again until I finally understood it, and like I thought it worked.
Sophocles is a writer that used bblindness figuratively and literally in this story. I thought that the characters in this story showed it very well.
He didn't know that the man in the horse drawn carrage was his real father. So before that he tried to escape killing his fake dad. Then he met up with his real father, and he killed him. It took him until the end of the play to figure out that was his real dad.
He didn't know he killed his father Laius. Oedipus attacked and killed most men on the carrage. Although, one of the men managed to escape, and not die. A few years after Oedpus was king he found that man, and got information from him.
After he killed his dad, Oedipus became the king of Thebes. He did that by solving the riddle of the sphinx. Then about a month later he got married to his mom. Then she had kids, and Oedipus became their father and brother.
About a year later, he started to figure out that Laius was his father. Before he could completely figure it out his mom killed herself. Then he figured it out after Teiresias, a blind prophet, had already told him the same thing. Then he decided to go ahead, and stab out his eyes.
Eventually, he banished himself from Thebes. Then, he said by to his kids. He went uptot he mountains, and he stayed there for the rest of his life.
